BIOGRAPHY
 
Bob Shad

An American music producer and record label owner.

He produced the first album by "Big Brother and the Holding Company" (featuring Janis Joplin).

Shad supervised several major blues, pop, rock and R&B dates. Shad started his production career with Savoy Records in the '40s, producing jazz sessions for Charlie Parker and blues and R&B albums for National.

He also supervised pop dates by Patti Page and Vic Damone, R&B by The Platters and blues sessions by Hopkins, Big Bill Broonzy and many others.

Producer of "The Peppermint Twist".

Also worked with The Platters - Janis Joplin - Patti Page and so many others.

Bob Shad died in 1985 of a heart attack.
