An American Blues pianist, songwriter.
In 1942 he and his family shifted to Los Angeles and met Charles Brown who had influenced his piano style.
He called himself "Mr Magnificent" and signed to Modern records in 1949.
He later signed with "Specialty Records in 1952 and also "Atlantic Records" in 1954.
The song he penned was later covered by "The Blues Brothers".
During the seventies Dixon retired to Texas leaving music behind for a more quieter life with the occasional tour.
In 1993 he was awarded a pioneer award from "The Rhythm And Blues Foundation" in the mid nineties.
Dixon died in Los Ageles in 2006. At the age of 77.
