"Solitaire" is a popular song written by Neil Sedaka along with Phil Cody and has been recorded by Sedaka on his 1974 "Sedaka's Back album It tells of a man losing touch with, and thus losing, his sweetheart. Alone, he's "playing solitaire".

The Carpenters' version was released in 1975 on the album, Horizon. The original version does not have the guitar lead in between Karen singing: "A heart that cared, that went unshared, until it died within his silence" and "And Solitaire's the only game in town, and every road that takes him takes him down."
